Coach Matt Hockett is entering his 8th year with the Warrior basketball program as a head coach. This will be his third year coaching at the Sophomore level. His previous experience has been as head coach of the freshmen team. Matt was an outstanding player for the Warriors and has returned as an outstanding coach. His teaching responsibilities include Math, Video, and Computers. He is married to fellow WA history teacher Kori Hockett. Coach Hockett does an outstanding job of organizing and motivating his players to excellence. His knowledge of basketball and insight into life helps instill in young players our goals of honoring Christ first and becoming excellent basketball players.
Kevin Bishop is no stranger to Warrior Basketball. Kevin was a key component on three highly successful WA teams. As a Sophomore he played a key reserve role in leading the Warriors to the first Regional title in school history. As a Junior and Senior he played on teams that had consecutive 20 win seasons and two PSL championships. Kevin went on to have a successful career at Wheaton College where he was a member with fellow WA standouts Jon Nielson and Jim Fortosis, on nationally ranked Thunder squads. Kevin has worked extensively in Warrior summer camps and is a highly competent coach and great Christian role model for his players. Coach Euler comments: “We are thankful that God has allowed Kevin to join our staff at WA. When we were looking for a replacement for Coach Scheidt, Kevin was the first person that came to our mind as one who knew basketball but more importantly understands what it means to be a man of God, and a man of God that could lead others.” Kevin is currently finishing his Masters degree in Teaching at Aurora University.
