High School Football?

I am here at Panera right now, so I thought I would write about my football experience last night.

John Albaugh was visiting Covenant this weekend and was staying with the basketball team, as a prospective basketball player. The team was going to attend some high school football game after practice, and I ended up going with him.

I soon found out that it was no ordinary high school football game. It was McCallie vs. Baylor (their website is near perfection): two prestigious, rich, prep schools with a rivalry the size of Alaska. It was played at the UTC (University of Tennessee-Chattanooga) stadium, and the place was almost completely packed! Everyone and their second cousin was there--in fact, the question wasn't who was there, but who wasn't there. It was unnatural. I thought I was watching pro, or at least college football, because these guys were good. Unbelievable athletes. I had never attended a high school football game before in my life until last night--and I have to say, I was impressed.

I have long argued that the game of football is slow, unexciting, and one that requires little to no skill (minus the quarterback position). I still maintain that position, but, for the first time in my life--I saw some legitamacy to the game of football. Sure, it was still slow, uneventful, and lacking excitement at times--but as a whole, it was quite entertaining to watch.

Thank you for visiting my website. Don't hesitate to send me an email if you have a question/comment.
