Covenant Basketball Opener

The Covenant College men's basketball team opened up their season Saturday night:

Covenant College Men's Basketball team fought hard but lost their season opener 70-63 to nationally ranked number 11 Lindsey Wilson College. Lindsey Wilson, who was a final 8 participant in last year's NAIA DI national tournament was down throughout the contest but stormed back in the second half to take a lead for good in the final two minutes. The Scots playing in hostile territory played well but missed some key opportunities in the last few minutes of the game. Jacob Skogen who led the Scots with 29 points, including 22 in the first half fouled out with three minutes left in the game. Caleb Skogen added 14 points and senior Anthony Johnson netted 10 for the Scots. Next contest for the Scots is Saturday against Oakwood College. Tip-off time is 10:00 pm EST in Birmingham, AL.
